Welcome to a course in Dancehall and Afrobeats!

In this course, you are going to learn both Dancehall and Afrobeats steps. In this mix you'll get deep: you'll learn about the spiritual meaning behind the steps, get technical with the moves, and learn multiple variations for one step as well as a final step sequence. 

Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music that originated in the late 1970s. The popularity of Dancehall has spawned dance moves that help to make parties and stage performances more energetic. Many dance moves seen in Hip-hop videos are variations of Dancehall dances. The dance is mainly developed in Jamaica in the street parties where the latest rhythms are played. The dance is a mix of different club steps with influences from African dance, Hip-hop, and Latin dance, and in addition, every person puts their flavor into it.

Afrobeats dance is a diverse and fascinating style originating predominantly form Sub-Saharan Africa. It is an evolution from traditional African dance styles following the creation of Afrobeats music. In fact, the dance was developed as a response to the genre’s incredibly energetic and upbeat rhythm. Artists like Davido, Mr Eazi, Diamond platinumz and Heavy K have not only created the sound that goes along with this exciting dance style, but have created memorable dance trends as well.
