Blues intensive with brunch

Intensive Blues Brunch: 12. November

Welcome to a full day of blues workshops! We start the day with a brunch and blues history talk combo, followed by a fast-paced beginner’s class in the morning. In the afternoon there will be an intermediate class and for those who want to continue the day after that, some of us will go to Uppsala to join their social dance in the evening (not included in price)!

11:00 – Brunch and history talk & Beginner+ class
(price 250 sek member, 350 non member, inkl. brunch)

Brunch at the venue with a short history of blues. Talking about the development of different styles, how and where they came to be. 

Have you been coming to our social dances for a while but never really taken a class in blues? Are you a swing dance dancer who is curious about blues? Are you a complete beginner ready for a little challenge? Are you an intermediate dancer who wants to practice your leading and following technique?

This class is for you!

We will go through basic blues movements and connections. You can expect different rhythms and tools on how to deal with them on the social dance floor! Expect personal feedback and a slightly challenging class!

This will be an “everybody leads, and everybody follows” class, though we will not practice switch dancing (yet)

14:00 – lunch break (not included)
We recommend bringing salad or wrap or something similar with you. You can eat at the venue. We know it's a short lunchtime, but we want to pack in as much as possible this Saturday! 

14:45 – Intermediate class
(price 200 members, 300 non-members) 

If you were a complete beginner before the first block, you can still take this class but expect to be challenged! If you have done a few classes and are comfortable in a closed embrace, close embrace and open, know a few more basic steps than step touch.

Here we will dig into some different styles and rhythms like latin blues, piedmont and more. We will also focus on the followers' voice and follow initiation, and lead response. We will tap into your creativity!

17:00 – goodbyes! and a trip to social dance in Uppsala!
Uppsala dancers are organizing a social dance night starting at 19:00. For those who want, we can take a train together from Odenplan, find somewhere cosy to have dinner and dance some more! If you are a beginner who has taken a blues dance class for the first time and has never attended social before, don't worry we will take care of you the dancers from Uppsala are a super welcoming and nice crowd, and they often come to visit us in Stockholm!

350 SEK members / 450 SEK non-members for brunch and both lessons 

250 / 350 SEK for the beginner+ class including brunch

200 / 300 SEK for the intermediate class
