Partner Blues Fortsättning 2

Blues dances are a group of African American dance styles to Blues music, with the earliest styles developing in the late 1800's.

Class description:
This course block is suitable for those who have taken Blues fortsättning 1 and those who have danced for some time and are comfortable with the elements mentioned in the prerequisites. If you are interested in the course but dont know your level -
sign up for audition 10th of March, 12 PM at SSS. See separate registration. 

During the course, we will cover two of the most popular styles of Blues partner dance, Juke Joint Blues and Ballroom Blues. We will focus strongly on musicality, improving connection in close embrace, closed and open, and digging deeper into the specific aesthetics of blues dance. We will also teach some basic history of the Blues, America's first original art form and talk about common structures of Blues music.

For most of the course, everyone follows, and everyone leads in this class. In some classes, you will choose a role.

Prerequisites
general connection and posture: 
- be comfortable with a close embrace in both roles 
- understanding of the pulse 
- manages well to keep a grounded athletic posture 
Ballromin: 
- basic ballrooming step 
- walking in close embrace 
- promenade 
- open relaxed connection vs stretch 
Shuffle rhythms: 
- be comfortable with a basic triple in close embrace 
- basic understanding of the accordion movement 
- basic understanding of shuffle basics
