Lindy Hop & Solo Jazz Weekend Tyedric Hill & Mikaela Hellsten

We are very happy to invite you to join a two-day workshop with Tyedric Hill (USA) and Mikaela Hellsten (SWE), in which dancers will explore Black American dance practices passed down by elders. Through movement and discussion, participants will deepen their understanding of the cultural roots of these dance practices while developing the quality of their movement in both lindy hop and solo jazz.

The workshop is designed for dancers with at least three years of dance experience, who are motivated to continue developing through self-practice, performance, or competition. 
 

About the instructors

The workshop will be led by Tyedric Hill (USA), a vernacular jazz and Lindy Hop dancer since 2017, with a rich background in styles including capoeira, waving, and stepping. His teaching is grounded in historical and cultural context, weaving lineage and authenticity into his approach to movement. He values community, partnership, and fun, creating classes that are both supportive and engaging while encouraging dancers to connect with the dance's roots and spirit. 

Accompanied by Mikaela Hellsten (SWE), she discovered Lindy Hop at the age of 13 and quickly fell in love with the dance. Since then, her passion for Lindy Hop, tap, and solo jazz has only grown. With a deep appreciation for Jazz music and its history, she brings that knowledge into her approach to dance and teaching. With experience in social dancing and choreography, she has competed and performed both nationally and internationally.

Level required: intermediate/advanced+ and 3+ years of dancing experience
We encourage you to register with a partner to secure a spot in the workshop

What to wear/bring: dancing shoes and comfortable clothes

Total 5 hours of classes each day. 

10 October, 10:00-16:30 (incl. the lunch break and short pauses between classes)

11 October, 10:00-16:00 (incl. the lunch break and short pauses between classes)

• SSS members: 1600 SEK

• Non SSS members: 1760 SEK

No other discounts (student, youth, pensioner, etc.) are applicable to this event.

Cancellation policy

If you registered for the event but cannot make it, please contact kurser@swedishswing.se

If you cancel more than 10 days before the workshop starts, a cancellation fee of 100 SEK will be charged. 

If you cancel less than 10 days before the workshop starts, the full workshop fee will be charged.
