Gothenburg Queer Lindy Festival

GQLF is a Festival run by members of the non-profit dance association West Coast Jitterbugs. Like all other swing dances that WCJ dances Lindy Hop originated during the swing era. Dancing to the music emerged largely under the influence of Afro-American artistic traditions and values.

Gothenburg Queer Lindy Festival will use solidarity pricing for all classes. We prioritized keeping the prices relatively low in order to make this event as economically accessible as we could. However the ones of you who struggle financially will also have the possibility to choose the subsidized ticket alternative. For this to be possible for us as a festival, we ask all of you who have the means for it, to choose the higher price category. When you pay the higher price, you will in practice sponsor a fellow queer to join.

Full pass includes  5 hours of quality lessons and evening parties from Friday to Sunday, and also tasters including 1h talk. There are four levels to choose from, including beginner.

This year we chose to name the different tracks after famous LGBTQ musicians and dancers from back in the days. Read through the descriptions to find out what level suits YOU the best.

During this festival we take care of each other. We have a Code of Conduct that we highly encourage you to read through.

Code of Conduct

We will have an awareness team during the event that you can reach out to if you in any way feel uncomfortable or violated. And if you break the rules and make someone else feel uncomfortable there will be consequences. Worst case scenario we will ban you from the festival, but we have faith that we are all going to take care of each other and make this year's GQLF one to remember!

Lottery: Make sure that you mark the dates on your calendar!
Please remember to register between May 31st - June 10th for full passes. Spots will be distributed by a lottery on June 11th. After this date it is still possible to register, if there are no free spots You will be put on a waiting list. Lottery to the party pass and distribution of spots will be made June 25th.
