Slow Balboa Grundkurs
Slow Balboa is a smooth, elegant dance born on the West Coast of the United States and deeply rooted in African American artistic values. The emphasis is on deep connection, musicality, and subtle movement rather than performing for an audience. While traditional Balboa thrives on faster tempos, Slow Balboa invites dancers to slow down, play with rhythms, and express the music with fluidity.
In this course, we will introduce the characteristic feel of Slow Balboa, essential footwork, and foundational moves to help you feel comfortable taking the dance to the social floor. The dance involves gentle rotations, weight transfers, and smooth slides—therefore, we recommend shoes with leather soles or similar that glide easily on wooden floors.
