Balboa MA Pivots Theme

If you have been taking Balboa M-level courses and are hunting for new dance techniques, this course is for you.

Pivots are one of the most elegant movements in Balboa, and present the ‘sweet’ moment to share momentum between you and your partner. While it’s a very dynamic and beautiful movement, it also includes many interesting dance techniques. If you can achieve pivots in smooth flow and energetic momentum between Pure-bal and Bal-swing, it will provide an excellent base for advanced-level dancing.

Therefore, while pivots are the central theme, this course will go beyond just spinning. This 5-week course will introduce the mechanics of front/back pivots and explore the other movements that make a flowy combination together. They can be new or familiar movements, but we focus more on the lead-follow connection rather than the outer shape. Through that, our goal is to train balancing and body control in rotational momentum, while building strong connections even when we continuously switch between close and open positions.

Speaking of the class level, this is a Balboa Medel Advanced course, and you are welcome to sign up for it as your first MA level course. You will need prior understanding of Balboa moves and connections in Medel level, and to feel completely comfortable with your basic footwork, moves, and turns.
